The ACB Winter Concert features some hot and fiery pieces and will be conducted by John Fecker. On the program will be the rarely performed Alzira Overture by Verdi, Conga del Fuego Nuevo by Arturo Marquez, and the Finale from the Ballet Suite Pineapple Poll by Arthur Sullivan which uses many themes from his most popular Operettas, the Mikado and HMS Pinnafore. Poll will be conducted by David Smith. Also on this program are Pentland Hills, a concert March featuring 3 Scottish Airs, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a tone poem, American Treat, a medley of late fifties and sixties popular songs, and A Slavic Farewell, written in 1995 by a Russian composer, which is a “J.P. Sousa meets the Volga Boatman" style march.
As a special treat our featured soloist will be Maddie Wessel who is our lead saxophone player. She will be performing the Concerto for Alto Saxophone by Darren Jenkins.
